She graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School, then attended Georgia State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video. After a brief stint in the film industry, she attended Armstrong State University where she received a Master of Arts in Teaching, with a focus on Early Childhood Education. She worked for Vanderlyn Elementary School teaching first grade. Hilary had a beautiful, nurturing, gentle spirit and her students adored her. She was an outstanding teacher, and showed a passion for education and working with children.
In 2010 she met the love of her life, Taylor Vaughan, in Macon, GA where he was attending school, and they fell in love immediately. They were married on October 1, 2017 and shared in many memories, and adventures both far and near.
Hilary was full of happiness and love, and found joy in all aspects of life, even in things others take for granted. Most of all, Hilary loved cats, particularly her cat Shadow, whom she raised from birth and has been with her for 19 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing board games, watching movies, and was a Harry Potter fanatic. She had a great sense of humor and a gift for connecting with people. She was incredibly loyal and knew how to establish life-long relationships. She thought outside the box, and always spoke honestly. Her amazing personality could light up a room, and she made an impact on everyone she met, however briefly they knew her.
Hilary was a devoted wife, daughter, teacher, sister, and friend. Her one-of-a-kind spirit and gracious personality will forever be missed. Her beautiful life and her love will be everlasting in the lives she touched.
Hilary is preceded in death by her father, Carl Hunter. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, Taylor Vaughan; mother, Vicky Hunter; sister, Stephanie Pruett; brother, Paul Hunter; grandmother, Patricia Hunter; best friend since childhood, Kay; many aunts, uncles, and cousins in North Carolina and Missouri; and of course her beloved cat, Shadow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share Hilary’s love for animals with donations to Save Our Cats and Kittens (S.O.C.K.S.) cat shelter (http://www.saveourcatsandkittens.com/), or to your local Humane Society.
