Hester was married to the love of her life, James A. “Al” Bailey, for 69 years. They married at First Methodist Church, where they first met, on November 21, 1951. They were members of First Methodist for many years and later were devoted members of The Cathedral of Saint Philip on Peachtree Road in Atlanta.
After a long career as an accountant, Hester retired from RACO General Contractors in the 1990s.
She is remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her as the life of any party, a generous spirit who loved hosting and always had a beautiful smile lighting up her face. She loved tending her gardens and traveling the world with Al; she loved recounting their trips to China, Egypt, England, Ireland, France, Greece, and most of the United States.
Hester is preceded by Al and their beloved daughter, Debra Hillringhouse. She is survived by her niece, Jolinda Vishio; her siblings Fran Falcon, Joan Smolk, Laurie Phillips and Charles Alewine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place on Saturday, March 29th at Roswell Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with the service at 12 p.m. and burial at 1 p.m., followed by food and fellowship at Hembree Park, 850 Hembree Road in Roswell, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that loved ones donate in Hester’s name to North Fulton
Community Charities.
