H. Ward Carpenter

H. Ward Carpenter, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Suwanee, Georgia on Monday, December 26, 2016. He was born July 31, 1930 to Homer and Lucille (Merrick) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Ward is survived by his only child, Tara Thompson, son-in-law, John and 3 grandsons, Christian, Austin and Ryan, all of Alpharetta, GA; his sister, Mavis (Carpenter) Bennett and her husband, Harry, of Belchertown, MA; his niece and nephew, Noreen and Glenn. Ward was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He loved this country and was proud to be an American. Besides spoiling his daughter and grandchildren, Ward loved to watch Atlanta sports but especially the Braves or the Falcons. In addition, Ward left a legacy of friendship too long for this memoriam. He was a dear friend, loved by many and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Susie (Cunningham) Carpenter; his parents and grandparents plus many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3 at 11 am with a reception immediately following at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
