George Klein Jr. of Alpharetta, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6th, after a respiratory illness caused by Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his wife, Mary Martha (Marty), and their six children: Ralph, Dr. Ted, Tim, Tom, Mary, and Judi. George was born on December 29th, 1930 to George Klein Sr. and wife Grace in Cleveland, OH. While attending Shore High School in Euclid, OH, George was an excellent football player. George went on to study political science at Kent State University. He was a fraternity member of Delta Tau Delta, a talented drummer, strikingly handsome, and had a great sense of humor. During college, he fell in love with his future bride, Marty Hurst, from Ashland, OH. The two married after graduation and moved to Illinois, where George launched his career in consumer packaging sales. He retired in 1990 as President and CEO of Archer Packaging, based in Winston-Salem, NC. No achievement surpassed that of raising a wonderful family. The loves of his life were Marty and their children, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. “Family is everything, and blood is thicker than water.” he would say. George was predeceased by his brother, Ron. His sister Myna lives in Reno, NV. The family requests that donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
