Mr. Garrett Benjamin Couch, age 35, of Johns Creek, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Garrett was born on September 12, 1986, in Pasadena, California, a son to Russell Couch and Linda Couch and his Mother Pamela Sue Couch.
Garrett was an incredible young man full of strength, perseverance, joy and wisdom. No matter the obstacles, regardless of the circumstances, he found a way to prevail. To know Garrett was to instantly love Garrett. He made an incredible impact on countless lives- from friends, to colleagues, his church family, the students he taught, and even the strangers that became instant friends along the way. He attended Kennesaw State University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree and was currently working towards his masters. Garrett had a true passion of working with students of all types, but particularly enjoyed advocating for and empowering those with special needs to be recognized to their full potential. That passion led him to teach high school students for the majority of his career, most recently in the Fulton County School System with the Innovations Academy of Johns Creek. Despite having Spina Bifida, Garrett was extremely independent. He was able to live in his own apartment at Champion’s Place in Johns Creek where he would reside for the last several years. When Garrett moved to Georgia, he participated in several wheelchair sports and competed in many different capacities. He was a devoted member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church and faithfully attended bible study and Sunday worship. Garrett was a wonderful son, brother, teacher, and friend; he will be greatly missed but his legacy will live on with those he loved.
