Frank Eldwin McCann, age 86, of Suwannee, Georgia passed away on September 12, 2022 in Johns Creek Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorine, his father James Eagle, and his stepfather Harold McCann.
Frank leaves his wife, Judith; sister, Kathy Siljander; daughters, Roni Cina and Laura Dee Bandera and son, Frank Jr.; grandsons, John and Daniel and great granddaughter, Adriana. Frank developed a deep connection with his wife's son, Greg Hall and wife, Christine, and their daughters, Lexie, Haley and Mallory since his marriage to Judith.
Born on March 31, 1936 in Michigan, Frank spent a few years in Michigan before moving to California. In the years that followed, Frank enjoyed high school years at Hawthorne High School making lifelong friendships with fellow students and football teammates. Frank became an avid sportsman, fishing and hunting. He was determined to continue his education, completing a junior college degree in California. Frank then transferred to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida with a scholarship. Frank often said that college was hard work, having to supplement his scholarship with various jobs.
Frank graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was recruited by the U.S. Government to develop and provide telecommunications in Vietnam until he was wounded. He managed to continue his education at Purdue in Indiana before setting on a career in private industry. During his career, Frank worked on special projects as a consultant for improving industrial productivity, traveling throughout the world. Frank was a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. One project that Frank regarded as a highlight in his career was working with a team that developed the side view mirrors that are on all cars today.
Frank retired from this career at 55 and went to school to become a Radiologic Technologist. He stayed in this career until health problems forced his second retirement. He was a dedicated husband and caregiver to Jo Ann until 2013 when she succumbed to cancer.
Frank met Judith in 2018 and they were married in June. Together they built a home, traveled, and enjoyed their family and friends. Frank was Known for his sense of humor and amazing knowledge. He was a thoughtful, sensitive man with an inquisitive nature and devotion to God. Frank's memory will be cherished by his wife, family, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
