I love you, Fran and miss you terribly. Good friends, like you are hard to find.

A bright and shining light in our lives went out when Frances was taken.   Her spirit lives on in all who knew her.   

My sincere condolences to Greg Powers and family on the passing of Fran Powers, wife, mother, grandmother, BGTA Board Member, previous neighbor, friend. I know it's been almost 2 years since her passing but my daughter had a dream about our old neighborhood & neighbors. I didn't expect to see Fran's obituary. May Divine Arms embrace the family with Love & Peace as they continue to share beautiful memories of their loved one.

Frances was such a spirited and good soul.  She lives on with us through memories.  She was a wonderful person taken too soon.  I am so blessed to have had her as my friend beginning in junior high.  I miss her and can still hear her sweet voice and quick wit.   

I can say a lot of things about Ms.Fran. I can say she was kind, thoughtful, and all around the best friend to me in the entire world. I didn’t know her at first but I also didn’t know she would become the only friend who didn’t care about drama, politics, or even what I look like on a day to day basis. I could walk to her house 3 times a day every day and she would greet me with a  smile on her face. I always hung out in her basement she let me play on the swing she bought for her grandkids. Most of all she loved my dog Dasher. Even though she called him everything accept his name. Buppy, Paco, Thrasher, a whole lot of names. I came to her house everyday she let me sleep on her couch if I needed to and trust me I did. She took care of me and my dog without her I’d be lost and not very happy. we went on walks, if I was hungry she bought me Chick-fil-A, and even if I just wanted to talk about my family issues she was there. She always left her door open for me just in case. It took her awhile to learn my name to remind herself she thought of the word Sahara like the desert. She always kept the tropical welches fruit snacks in her pantry for them because she didn’t like them. She’d always spoil me like crazy. If I came to her house empty handed I went back home with a grocery bag full of snacks, drinks, dog treats, and toys. She always told me she never had a daughter so I was the closest thing to it. The past years with her I’ve grown and learned from her each and every day. If I had one more thing to say to her I’d say “Thank you”

I really didn't know Frances very well personally,  but feel that I did because of the way Greg spoke of her.  Greg loved Frances and it showed.  They shared an amazing Christian faith which was the foundation of their relationship.   While Deko and I are sad that Frances has gone on to glory, we rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus  Christ.   Glory be to God, Amen.

We never had a chance to meet Frances but got to know her through Greg.  She was clearly a wonderful human being and loved her family and church.  Our condolences to the family.  Heaven gained another angel.  

Fran was a great neighbor. Always loved the way she treated Clayton when he’d be out walking or always had a smile on. She will be missed in the community and in our hearts. Rest in peace Fran. -Jeff, Jen, and Clayton. 

So, many wonderful things we can say about Fran even though we only knew her a few years. Sophie just loved going across the way to see Fran and “Kitty”.  Fran even ordered Sophie a special kitty of her own and gave it to her for her birthday in May.  She was always the first to volunteer to help with walking our dogs or getting the mail when we were out of town. Just small examples of the nice things she did for others. She was a kind, generous, and exceptional person. We will miss seeing her smiling face walking around the neighborhood.

Our daughter hit the jackpot when she bought the home next door to Fran & Greg.  Fran always had a smile and a laugh and was always willing to help out whoever needed a favor.  We never feared if one of our canines got loose because they'd head straight to Frans door...the neighborhood dog whisperer.  She was always at the back deck with a special treat for Ally and I know Ally was second in line to greet her...after her beloved Daisy.  Our sincerest condolences to Greg and the entire family.  We will miss her. 

I HEARD THERE WAS A SECRET CHORD...
If there really is a secret chord that pleases the Lord, then surely it is 'F':  
F for Fran
She was tuned in to the needs of others, always ready and willing to help out where she could.
She knew how to find harmony - with family, friends and especially animals! (With a name like Francis it was her duty to live up to being like the Patron Saint of Animals - and the cats and dogs in the neighborhood knew it!)
At times she was 'adagio' - laid back, easy going, taking things slowly;
At others she was 'allegro' - upbeat and cheerful and ready to laugh.
Her timbre was soft, gentle, natural and that resonated deeply with those she was close to. 
Thank you for this music, Fran.  We are honored to call you our Friend.

Fran was the "spark plug" in our community!!  She would be seen walking one of many homeowner's dogs, help out whenever the need surfaced and had an infectious level of caring for others.  We hit the jackpot in having Fran and Greg as neighbors!

I will always remember and keep those precious memories of the times we shared together laughing, talking, and gossiping about everything! I will miss you truly, but I know your mind, body, and soul is at peace now. Your presence and beautiful smile will always be with me until we meet again. Rest in Peace sweet Queen!

All of our Life journey has many chapters that hold the story of each  experience.   I like to open my chapter on Fran.     From the moment we arrive at Bishop Gates, Fran was one of the first neighbor to introduce herself to us.    I realize that day that she wasn't going to be just a neighbor, but a friend.      
Every moment we had a chance to chat was very special.   Fran was such a mentor for me and open my eyes to so many diverse perspectives.    When I was on Bishop Gates board she was always providing me unbias perspective that help me lead the community to better things and better return on our investment.  She was a force to know and join her in completing each challenge.    Fran spirit will always have a special place in my heart.   I look forward to seeing her spirit again .   I count my blessings that I got to meet an amazing strong, independent woman in my Life journey.  My chapter entitle "Fran"  is one that I will cherish.   Her unconditional Love spoke volume with me.    I will see you again :)

You brought my so much joy and love in my light. When I was a struggling  teenager, you believed in me and it made all the difference. I cherish all my fun memories with you, right up until weeks ago we were laughing and reminiscing about the times we shared. I love you.

Greg and Family,
Fran will be deeply missed. She was such a caring person who help so many during difficult times including so many in the Bishops Gate Community. She was a trusted neighbor who we knew we could always count on to help with dog sitting and looking after our house when we were gone. Fran demonstrated through her actions not talk what love is. She showed it freely. May she now Rest In Peace with no more pain.

Fran was our Bishops Gate neighbor where we served on the board together and I grew so fond of her.  We shared the same thoughts  often making us the odd members out on some issues. Great wit and grace facing a battle with a viscous disease.  She stared it down  knowing the likely outcome.  A beautiful spirit now in heaven.  Gone too soon.

I am so sadden by this unexpected news.  Frances was full of life with such a quick wit.  She always had such a kind heart.  When I was struggling to learn a cheer or pom routine it was Frances who took the time and showed  patience to work with me.  We were friends from jr. high on.  I remember when I told her that I credit her with my accomplishments and strength and that over the years I had found myself asking, "What would Frances say to this or that?"   We cried.  I'm so very thankful  I had the opportunity to tell her how important she was to me.  I will miss her so much.   Greg and family, my heart breaks for you.  You were very important to her and brought her much joy.   Rest in Peace my dear friend.
