Eugene O’Brien of Roswell, GA, passed away on Sunday March 22, 2015, at the age of 83. Eugene was born in Waltham, Mass on December 31, 1931 and at the age of one, he and his parents returned to Dublin, Ireland where he lived until the age of 19. In 1951, he returned to the United States and eventually settled in Atlanta, GA. As a proud Irish- American, he served in the U. S. Air Force from 1952 until 1958. He graduated class valedictorian from John Marshall Law School where he later served as a professor. He successfully practiced law for 39 plus years at Lane, O’Brien, and Caswell in Atlanta, GA. Eugene is an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He enjoyed family trips to Siesta Key, FL and coaching youth soccer, which he did for 35 plus years. He is one of the founders of youth soccer in the state of Georgia and was the second person inducted into the Georgia Soccer Hall of Fame. He is also a past president of the Hibernians Society of Atlanta. Mr. O’Brien is preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Anna O’Brien. He is survived by his wife; Frankie O’Brien, to whom he was a proud husband to for 55 years, his son; Eugene O’Brien Jr. (Julie), his daughter; Debra O’Brien Thomas (Kevin), siblings; Terry Everson, Robert O’Brien and Tom O’Brien, grandchildren; Lauren, Jack and Ryan Peebles, and 4 step grandchildren. A wake will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Wednesday March 25, 2015 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at 8:00 pm. The memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Thursday March 26, 2015 at 1:30 pm. The Internment will take place on Friday March 27, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
