Eugene A. Medori, Sr. age 98, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on April 25, 2019. He was born to Italian immigrants, in New York City. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend and most importantly, husband to his best friend Mary to whom he was married for 36 years. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his children, Janice Bohn Klebba (Ron), Steven Medori (Anne), Francine Franke (Tim), daughter in-law Claudia Medori. 7 grandchildren: Joe Medori, Amanda Medori Hallauer (Todd), Melissa Medori (Eric Chaney), Michele Medori, Allison Franke, Josh Franke (Molly), and Kyle Franke, 3 great grandchildren: Leonel and Jasper Hallauer, and Henry Franke, sisters Viola Labozzetta, Dorthy Sciavo, and many nieces and nephews who filled his heart with happiness. He was preceded in death by his son Eugene Medori Jr., and sister Ida Carlo.
Eugene, also affectionately known as Gino, attended City College of New York and served as a navigator/bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Force until the end of WWII. He continued his career at Western Electric Co. (Lucent, Nokia) in Kearny, NJ as an engineer. In 1962 he transferred to Atlanta to help open the new southern region office for the Western Electric Co, as Section Chief and Dept. Chief to the cable and power engineering group. He took early retirement and enjoyed traveling many times to Italy with his wife, visiting each of their relatives who still reside there. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on May 7, 2019 at 10:30am, at St. Andrew Catholic Church 675 Riverside Road, Roswell GA 30076.
A military honors burial service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 (please arrive at 1:30 for procession to the ceremony pavilion) Address: 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton GA 30114
