I know this is a difficult anniversary for you, however, know that Paul is now at peace with his Mother and will be waiting to see you again one day.  My thoughts and prayers are with you. 

Dear Gene and Family,

So many people have already expressed such wonderful thoughts about Paul and his never ending smile and willingness to make his and our day something shared with care and love.  You and Paul have been our provider for over 38 years, but that's not what is most important.  We always felt that we had friends in the Donley's and friends is what you will always be to us.  When we walked into Paul's Memorial Service, we were proud of the numbers of people who came to pay their respects and share in your grief and loss.  Not a surprise however that such a grand tribute would be made to Paul.  Now as you pick up the pieces of your life without your Son, please know that we are praying for God's strength and healing powers to descend upon you and Paul's family.  We heard many wonderful things about Paul's sons from Paul and his love for them.  There they stood with grace as so many came to be with them.  They look so much like their father, but we are confident that they also carry with them the inner stature and grace that Paul represented so beautifully.
As we travel this Earth together, we trust that our friendship and care for each other will show the world how to make a better place for all of us. What a shining and beautiful symbol Paul displayed about life...we'll carry that image with us forever.

Dear Donley family, 

Words can't express how sad we were to learn of Paul's passing. He was one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met.  Paul was my older son's baseball coach a few times. The first time we had Coach Paul was about 8-10 years ago.  My son, Christopher,  considered giving up baseball after a previous season that was harsh, he just wasn't sure he was into it anymore, had a rough coach or two.  Paul was the perfect fit for Christopher. He had a system of awarding stars for the guys to pin on their caps after accomplishments, he was firm and competitive but his enthusiasm and support for the players was first and foremost. I can't tell you the scores of the games, the plays we made, but I can tell you it was probably the best season Chris had playing.  The first season Christopher wanted to pitch but wasn't ready. Some coaches would simply say no to and assign another player the position.  I will never forget Paul taking Christopher aside and explaining why he wasn't ready to pitch but that he would put him in if he practiced and earned the opportunity.  Christopher did his part and Paul allowed him to pitch, truly an incredible life lesson. Chris is now 18 and he can't recall many of his past coaches or the teams, but he clearly remembers Coach Paul.  He said today they were always the Athletics and he still has the stars he was given for his caps.  We hosted a team party at our lake house the last time Chris had Paul as a coach.  I recall Paul diving off the party deck on our dock and tubing. It was such a pleasure getting to know him, Brittany, Tate and Tyler through baseball. Whenever I think of Paul I think of stars on baseball caps, cheering at games and a coach giving an unknown player a chance to shine.  It is these traits that will always define Coach Paul to us. We are grateful for the positive impact he made.  Please know the Matthias family is keeping you all close in our hearts and prayers.

Our family sends heartfelt prayers to yours.  There simply aren't words for this.  Paul - I will remember you for your megawatt smile and kindness.  Never saw you without it.

Cindy and I are both devastated on your loss of Paul.  You and Paul have been visiting our home monthly for 30+ years, and going back 20 before that with Cindy's parents.  The two of you have been practically family.  We are so sorry for your loss, the world will not be the same without Paul, but we are blessed to have had the time to know him and to call him a friend.  If there is anything we can do to help you, please let us know.  We mourn for you and for Paul's sons.

Gene:. You and Paul are in our thoughts and prayers.  May your beautiful memories sustain and bring comfort to you and your family during this difficult time.  Let your memories of Paul and the love of your family surround you and give you strength and peace in the days ahead.  

For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son.  
We can not question God's decisions. Paul has climbed the stairway to heaven.

Paul was cool, thats why I liked him. Paul was cool. Paul still is cool, and he’s in Heaven. I know that because you have to do something really bad to be sent the other direction. Paul was the nicest person I think I’ve met in all of Roswell. He was always smiling about something, a funny dude, good natured. He’s in Heaven right now with his mother Babs, and I bet they’re both laughing about something as I write this. They’re probably laughing at me, lol. In a good natured way of course. Good people.

We’ll all see Paul again. I’m sure of that. Till then I’ll remember Paul for all the laughs and fun times hanging out with his dad Gene, for his humility and good natured positivity and for just being a good person. I’m going to miss seeing you around brotha!

Gene and family - Lynda and I are heartbroken for your loss.  Paul was a mainstay on his monthly trips to our house for so many years.  We've been blessed by both Gene and Paul for 30+ years and could not have asked for a better young man to take care of us.  Our hearts go out to Gene and Paul's family.  Your loss is all of ours, and the world as well has lost a shining light!

Gene, my heart breaks for you at the loss of your son.  Although, I did not know him,  from the photo, it was obvious how handsome he is (just like his Dad).   May you find peace in knowing that Paul is in a wonderful place with no cares or worries.  

I have known Paul since high school. In our 30’s I was lucky enough to have played softball with him a few seasons too.  He was a good ball player and he hussled his butt off! In the dugout and after games he used to always talk about his kids and how much he enjoyed coaching them. I could tell how much he loved his kids when he spoke of them, his face would just light up!! Paul was one of the nicest people I have ever had the chance to know. He will be missed by ALL that knew him. My condolences to his family. 

Paul was the most universally liked person throughout our school.  Everyone will remember his kindness and big smile. 

Our Sincere Condolences for the Donley Family: to his Father, Gene Donley and most especially to his handsome sons, Tate and Tyler Donley. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended families. We were also long time recipients of Paul's monthly services, where Paul always displayed manners and loyalty to our family. Our hearts are saddened.

I met Paul at our daughter's house one day when I was keeping our Grandson and he came to take care of the Exterminating.  I thought he was the nicest young man.  He was always talking about  how he enjoyed coaching his sons and how much he loved them and how proud of them he was.

Soon, we asked him to come to our house to take care of the Quarterly Exterminating and we always looked forward to his visits. We felt we had gained a nice young man as a friend.
