On December 18, 2016 Emily Joyce Roy was called home. Joyce was born on March 21, 1936 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to LeRoy Benn and Inez Davis and was the eldest of four daughters. Joyce and her sisters, Rosa Benn, Barbara Barnes and Grace Stanley grew up in New Jersey where Joyce met and married Floyd Q. Roy and raised three daughters, Jeaninne Roy Singleton (Tony), Jocelyn Roy and Hillary Roy. Joyce was a passionate cook, an advocate for the less fortunate, a Scrabble enthusiast, plant whisperer and a wearer of caftans. Above all else she was a foot soldier for the Lord. Left behind to honor her memory on this earth are her siblings, daughters, son-in-law, nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and friends. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten and those of us that loved her know that we shall see her again.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Columbia Drive Methodist Church, 2067 Columbia Drive
