She was born on January 28, 1939, in Evans, West Virginia. She is predeceased by her parents Rayme and Willard Kessel.
Ann spent her childhood in Evans and Ripley, West Virginia. After graduating from Ripley High School, she attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV where she graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While at Marshall she was active in campus affairs and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, remaining a lifelong member. Following graduation, she began her teaching career.
On August 12, 1961, Ann and Don McNew were married in Ripley, West Virginia. Shortly after when Don began his military duties, they lived in Maryland where Don served in the U.S. Army and Ann continued teaching. After the military, Don joined IBM and began his career of 30 years. Ann enjoyed and was excited about each new move Don’s employment offered and the opportunity to meet new people, explore and share adventures along with her family. Moving to new locations brought new beginnings and friendships, many of which she has kept through the years.
Ann continued to work after they moved to the Atlanta area. She loved her family and strived to give the best love and attention to each family member. She was an active member of Roswell United Methodist Church and the Christians Under Construction Sunday School Class.
Ann loved her home, her family, her church and her friends. She was always willing to help someone in need and greeted everyone with her warm, welcoming smile. She will be truly missed but leaves behind beautiful memories full of her love.
Ann is survived by her husband Don of 61 years; their daughter, Kathryn Anne Robinson (Scott); sons: Michael Ray, Mark William, Douglas Kessel (Harlan) and grandchildren: Madison Tate D’Aquino, Gracie Elizabeth McNew, Sydney Brooke and Matthew Kyle Robinson, Tyler Kessel and Avery Katharine McNew.
