Elizabeth Shelly Charles, affectionately known as Liz, passed away on June 24, 2024, in her hometown of Atlanta. Born to her loving parents, Richard “Buz” Stone Charles and Judy Hazelwood Charles, on December 17, 1986.
Liz’s journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. Her unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be remembered by all those she touched with her unique light and kindness throughout her 37 years.
Her light made it impossible not to love her. Her love of animals opened doors where the relationships of her clients quickly turned to friendships. Liz was an artist at heart. From a young age, she wrote the words of a poet and saw the world in color, which she captured in her paintings and expressed through her art. Her openness and ability to talk with anyone were some of her most endearing qualities. Her Communications degree from Kennesaw State University was a natural fit.
Liz’s legacy of love will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing her journey. As was her way in life, Liz would never want her life to be mourned, but rather celebrated. She would want the memories we shared to be that of her infectious laughter, her warmhearted smile, her unique humor, and her special light that was quintessentially Liz.
Throughout her life, Liz embodied kindness and compassion. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of friends and family alike. To continue that legacy, we ask that donations be made to charity in lieu of flowers in Liz’s honor. The causes that were most dear to her were animal well-being and adoptions, as well as organizations supporting mental health.
Liz is survived by her adoring husband, Matt Brigham; her brother, Rick D Charles (Kristen) of Fontana, CA; her beloved nephew, Denver Weston Charles; her stepmom, Patty Ann Charles and countless friends she considered family. Liz’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and that strength will continue to inspire others. May she rest in eternal peace, and may she be remembered for the immense joy, love, and light she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1 pm at the Roswell Funeral Home (950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30075) for a celebration of life, with a reception to follow at the Heritage of Roswell Clubhouse (3701 Village Green Drive, Roswell, GA 30075).
