Daniel Fix, “Danny”, fulfilled his life’s work on March 26, 2020 at the young age of 68. Danny is survived in legacy by his loving and patient wife Madeline. Danny lived in The Villages, FL where he enjoyed every single day of his retirement from IBEW Local 25 electricians, Long Island.
Devoted father to Dawn, Kristofer, Jennifer and stepfather to Donna.
Extremely proud Pop Pop to Anderson, Sean, Piper and Aidan.
Survived by brother Ronald, sister Tammy, nieces, nephews, loving relatives and an amazing group of friends that he met up with every morning for coffee.
Danny was a tough Brooklyn born, cancer survivor, who lived life with intensity, purpose and precision. Everything he loved to do was done with extreme devotion and consistency. If it was worth doing, it was worth doing right. And by right, we mean “Danny’s Way”. Danny was a planner, an achiever, and a fierce competitor. You know those fathers that let their kids win so they feel good, that wasn’t Danny! There were no freebees. Danny taught his kids to fight for what they want, and that hard work and dedication brings the reward. He wasn’t a man of many words, but his actions spoke loudly and provided life lessons that built character and demonstrated perseverance. Danny handled life’s obstacles immediately, relentlessly and with great drive.
His OCD made him unique. Those near to him had the enjoyment of watching him fixate over menial things like how he parked his car in the driveway, which clearly needed to be checked three times before settling on the perfect alignment. His eyebrows made him stand out, his tube socks actually made their way back into style. His forehand was to be feared, he had no sense of direction, he was obsessed with punctuality and over analyzed travel logistics. Every meal he ate had to be “blasted” in the microwave.
Danny was a creature of habit and routine and was completely satisfied loving the same few things without deviation. Tennis, Dunkin’, pickleball, chocolates…canned soup, sweatshirts, spiral ham, Maddy mousse…hot tea, stick butter, Ivory soap, Hydrox cookies…Genesis, baseball caps, Young Frankenstein movie…cold beer, stock market, computer games, golfing days…egg sandwich, store bought treats, anyone who’ll rub his feet…bet the ponies, hot pastrami, beat the traffic and love his family.
To quote his favorite band, Genesis, Since I Lost You:
It seems in a moment, your whole world can shatter
Like morning dreams they just disappear
Like dust in your hand falling to the floor
How can life ever be the same
'Cause my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since you've been gone
