Connie was born to Edward Jasper Tyson and Mary Ella Thompson Tyson on November 18, 1932 in Macclenny, Florida.
She graduated from Macclenny-Glenn High School Valedictorian and attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Florida. She was married for 39 years to the late Alvah Franklin (Pete) Stone. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Alvah Franklin (Pete) Stone II (Shelby), of Pine Bluff, AR; Robert Edward Stone (Debbie), of Buckeye, AZ; and David Dale Stone (Renee’), of Alpharetta, GA.
Connie worked as an Administrative Assistant: at GTE; Pastor’s Secretary (Dr. Ivan B Roberts: Lake Carroll Baptist Church); and at the University of South Florida (Tampa campus), College of Education.
She loved working with children, teaching kindergarten at both Spencer Memorial Baptist Church and Lake Carroll Baptist Church Learning Center. She taught fourth grade girl’s Sunday school classes for over 50 years and worked with the youth department. Connie loved her church and music. At Lake Carroll Baptist Church she had been a member of the adult choir, played the piano and taught children’s choirs. Her Sunday school class and the women she shared life with were very dear and important to her.
Connie and two friends formed their own health care business: Underhill Personnel Services which later opened as Continucare Corporation. She retired in October 1991. In retirement, she volunteered at Lake Carroll Baptist Church as receptionist and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Along with her parents, Connie is preceded in death by her husband, Alvah Franklin (Pete) Stone and eight siblings. She is survived by her three sons, eight grandchildren: Nick Peavler, Trisha Trnka-Stone, Julie Carpenter, Ashley Rivera, Katie Watson, Colin Stone, Emily Stone, Sydney Stone, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Connie considered her loving family her greatest accomplishment. Her beautiful life and Love of JESUS CHRIST will forever be cherished in the lives she touched.
A Celebration Memorial of Connie Stone’s life will take place December 28, 2019 at Mission Hill Church, Lake Carroll Campus, 12012 North Rome Ave. Tampa Fl. 33612. Visitation at 10:00 am, Memorial Celebration at 11:00 am and reception following the service. Grave side interment will be 3:00 pm at Garden of Memories 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, Fl. 33610.
