I  was a center manager in Buffalo and he was my division manager. He was a great guy to work for. Everyone loved him. So sorry for your loss.

So sad to hear of Bud's passing.  I'm sure the family is dealing with a heavy heart.  Bud was definitely well liked by so many people.
He treated people with respect and those that worked for him returned the treatment.  Bud was my first district manager in Metro Detroit, what a gentleman and leader. 
I'm sure Bud is in great hands in heaven.  Hopefully we will see each other again, in the after life.  Prayers and condolences to the family and to our friend, Clinton "BUD" Yard.  Rest in Peace.

I must say that Bud was a great manager and great friend over the years that he worked in the WNY/Buffalo UPS area. Condolences to his family and may he rest in peace. 

I met Bud in April of 1974, when I was a mixed up 22 year old.  

It was on my 31st day at UPS and the union steward had told me I had to join the union and to do so I needed to pay an initiation fee.  At the end of my shift Bud introduced himself and asked if I’d be interested in going into management.  I asked if there was an initiation fee like the union has.  Bud laughed so hard - but not in a condescending way.  Then he took the time to explain why he thought management at UPS was a great opportunity.

Bud changed the trajectory of my life that day.  But it was his ongoing mentorship that straightened me out.

After a year working for Bud as a part time supervisor, I told him I was going to quit.  I said I’m flunking out of college and UPS rules say that I can’t become a full time supervisor without a college degree.  I said I’ll never get a college degree and I can’t be a part time employee forever.  Bud said, “give me some time to see if we can make an exception in your case”.  

Anybody who worked for UPS in the ‘70’s knows UPS didn’t make exceptions to its rules.  But Bud had me meet (really interview) with a seemingly endless list of UPS managers.  Finally, he told me, “congratulations you’re a full time UPS supervisor”. And my absolutely wonderful career at UPS continued.  

Bud was a leader, a gentleman, but most of all a friend.  I can honestly say that no one had a bigger influence on my life.  And to this day I thank God for brining Bud into my life in 1974.

RIP, Bud.

Ho Louise. Its Angelo.  Jo Ann and I are so sorry to have lost such a good friend as Bud.  He always was so influential in my career and kept my feet on the ground.   I can't tell you how many times we were in the cafeteria together when we worked.   Even when I retired, 25 years ago, I gave him credit for having an influence on my life and teaching me his positive cheer leading style of management.  The last time I saw him was at the Old Blind Dog and he was telling me about the move to the new house.  He will be missed by many.   I'm struggling with Jo Ann a bit.  That dementia gives her some bad days every so often.  We just try to take the good with the bad.  If you need me for anything, just call at 678-521-7625.  Take care and say hi to Mike and Jen for us.

 So sorry to hear about your loss.  I was  Bud's admin/secretary for 4 years when he was at UPS in Michigan.  Bud was a great person through and through and would do anything for you. I know he will be deeply missed.   Diane Brooks

I first met Bud in 1983. I was a new hire in Parsippany loading Oakland CA which was next to the employee entrance. It as a heavy night Bud stopped on his way out and picked up a package off the grating and placed it on the slide and pushed it and others down to the rollers to get the flow moving. Just said "Take good care of the packages".  I had no idea who he was. 
Second time we met, I wanted to move from NJ to MI as a P/T supervisor so I met him in his office in Livonia and he gave me the best opportunity of my life.
He later promoted me to FT supervisor.
Last time we met was in the Cafe in the corporate office just before he retired. I said hello waiting in line and he called me by first name and asked what I was doing in the corporate office.  We spoke for a minute or two . Not sure how he could remember a supervisor from 10 years prior but that was just the way he was. Rest in peace.

Louise, our condolences to you and the family.  It's truly sad to hear of Bud's passing.  He was a great friend, partner and mentor.  He was one of a kind.

My Thoughts and prayers go out to the Yard family. I worked under Buds leadership in NY and grew up a Yankees fan as well. I was in the Atlanta airport several years after Bud had retired and seen him wearing his white satin, number 7, Mickey Mantle jacket. He recognized me and we chatted as if he had seen me the day before. A true leader, a true gentleman and he will be missed.

Our most heartfelt condolences to Louise and your family on the passing of Bud.  We are so very sorry for your loss.  Bud was the nicest and kindest man.  We will miss him!

I first met Bud in July of 1985 at UPS in the old Metro Detroit district. The first day that I met him, Bud saw fit to take a chance on me and went way out of his way to give me the greatest opportunity of my life. To this day, I am forever grateful for what he did for me and my family. My sincere condolences to the entire family. I know he will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Bud's passing. I knew him through UPS and our time together in Michigan. Thinking of him brings back countless good memories. He was a great partner, a mentor, and friend...a very  good  man who will be greatly missed by many.

To the Yard family, Bud will always be in my  thougts as one of the greatest people in my life not only that of UPS   . He was there for you if you needed anything. I thought of him often and thoughts were great memories in how Bud looked out for others. Thank you Bud  and the very best to all the family.
