October 18, 1936 – December 29, 2023
Alice was born October 18, 1936, the first child of Joseph Hambrose and Alice Foody Hambrose in Merchantville, New Jersey. With a large family including 8 Aunts and 7 Uncles in the immediate area, Alice grew up the oldest of her 15 cousins. All four of Alice’s grandparents immigrated from Ireland and established families in the Philadelphia area. Family gatherings were always large and Alice stayed in touch with many of her cousins over the years.
Alice attended St. Mary of the Angels Academy and graduated in 1954 after which she embarked on her first global adventure traveling to Europe and returning with amazing stories about countries she visited from Ireland to Austria and many more in between. After High School, Alice went on to work with the Dominican Sisters at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. After several years, she began her studies in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania and became a certified X-Ray Technician, continuing to work at the hospital.
Alice met the love of her life and married Bob Hamlin on January 7, 1961. They immediately started a family and enjoyed being close to their parents and siblings. Alice was very proud of the PHT degree (Putting him Through) she received from Drexel University, supporting Bob as he received his Masters degree. She always talked about having dinner ready at 5:00 when he got home from work so their young family could eat together before Bob rushed out the door for night classes. Alice and Bob had 4 children in Marlton, New Jersey and eventually moved to Roswell Georgia in 1974.
After moving to Roswell, Alice focused on raising her young family and they spent many holidays and vacations traveling together. She quickly built a new community of family and friends in Roswell. After her 3 oldest children were in High School, Alice began her second career in Real Estate where she made many lifelong friends and enjoyed working with young families buying their first homes. Additionally, Alice was very proud of being one of the founding families of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Roswell and spent many years volunteering as a Wedding Coordinator.
As her children grew and started their own families, Alice and Bob enjoyed traveling the world, sharing many of their adventures via post cards and picture albums. She always believed travel was one of the most important forms of education and instilled that love of travel in her children.
Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her kindness and love for her family and friends. She deeply loved her expanding family and embraced each addition with pure joy.
Alice will be deeply missed by her children, Bob (and wife Lisa), Jim, Alice (and husband Tony), and Karen (and husband Rob); her grandchildren Steve (and wife Kaleigh), Kari (and husband Brad), Katie (and husband Nick), Luke, Hannah, Billy, Chloe, Ellie, Pierce, Connor, Reese, and her great-grandchildren Kaden, Dylan, Brendan, Stevie and Lawson. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bob. Alice's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but her legacy will forever be cherished.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday January 6th at 1:30 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 675 Riverside Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 to celebrate Alice's life and honor her contributions to our world.
