William "Bill" Francis Grogan, age 85, of Grosse Pointe Park. Died December 26, 2017 at Beechwood Manor in St Clair Shores. Bill was born June 22, 1932 in Detroit to Charles & Catherine (Quinn) Grogan. He married Lois V. Barbret Spieles in Oak Park on May 31, 2003. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lois Grogan, children; Michael Grogan, Karen (Chuck) Deslippe, David Grogan, Ann (Jeff) Pintar, Victor Spieles, Jennifer Spieles, grandchildren; Jennifer, Christine, Elizabeth, Charles, Kaitlyn, Alexis, great-granddaughter Emma, siblings; Paul, John (Irene), Tom (Willie) Grogan, Patricia (John) Giampa, Mary, Michael, Patrick (Cindy), Peter Grogan, Pre deceased by his parents and brothers Joseph and Charles.
Bill attended Lawrence Technological University where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration, Wayne State University where he received his Bachelor in Teaching, and University of Detroit Mercy where he received his Masters of Arts in the Teaching of Mathematics. He was with the Detroit Public Schools for over 40 years. Bill was very active in his community, part of the Warren Theatre Guild, St. Ambrose Players, Grosse Pointe Park Beautification Commission, where he planted hundreds of trees in the city, an unofficial city photographer, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Senior Men's Club of Grosse Pointe, an usher at St, Ambrose, and the Men's and Women's Garden Club of Grosse Pointe, where he was "Mr. Tomato" and went into the schools to teach the children about growing tomatoes. He also received the Keep Michigan Beautiful Award for his generous work in the community. Arrangements with Kaul Funeral Home- Roseville, 27830 Gratiot Ave. A Memorial Mass will be held 11AM instate at 10AM Friday, January 5, 2018 at St Ambrose Catholic Church, 15004 Hampton Rd, Grosse Pointe Park. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Beta Sigma Phi Fellow – Endowed Scholarship at Wayne State University – College of Education OR Men's and Women's Garden Club of Grosse Pointe scholarship fund.
