Barb was a longtime active member of the Macomb County Genealogy Group and a volunteer at the Mount Clemens Public Library.   She rarely attended social events and preferred to work in the background without recognition.  However, Barb was one of the first to volunteer for any project where she thought she would be helpful.   She liked talking with and helping patrons in the genealogy room.   She helped index death notices and court records, and recorded inscriptions from tombstones in many of the county cemeteries.   Barb was a major worker for the used book sales at the library doing everything from sorting and arranging books to selling them.      She will be deeply missed.

Barbara and I grew up together in a houseful of 7 adults and 5 children.  Since we were close in age, it was only natural that we would gravitate toward each other.  Together, we played hide and seek and cops and robbers, traded comic books, and went to the movies.  We walked to school, to church, sang in the church choir, went trick or treating and sang carols on Christmas Eve.  After my mom remarried, my family moved out to the suburbs.  I didn’t get to see Barbara too much after that until years later when I moved back to Michigan and she became close to my first wife, Pauline, and the kids.  A lot of changes happened in those years but one thing never changed; she still called me “Sonny.”

We would often run into Barb as she was going to and fro in the Mount Clemens Public Library where she volunteered.  We will miss her wry humor!   <3

You will be so deeply missed. I will continue to give my children smarties…..but only 2.
