This is the 3rd anniversary of your death...went out for Chinese this evening in your memory since i don't like liver. you would have turned 70 in April. Last June Danny turned 80 you would have been in attendance to celebrate even if I had to come get you myself. Your often on my mind as is the house (of 30 years) and Simon (gone to soon). Thoughts of you are not bright - most depressing is the thought you had no memorial yet how can you celebrate a life not lived. Anita hasn't spoken to Gary or Karen since 2019, she tried to reach out for their phone numbers but they declined, I feel bad being the only one in contact with her yet it is only by mail at Christmas or our birthdays so our contact is sparse. Noah is doing well with his music (you would be delighted) no one has met Gary's grandchildren (I hope to one day, even if it's alone) speaking about children, Danny and I have plans later this year to see relatives on his side we haven't seen since 2013...this year we had to have a new kitchen cabinet installed (our neighbor Gerald did it for free labor) and we had a driveway laid replacing the stone driveway we've had since buying the house in 2005. Gary is planning on visiting Karen and I at the end of June (their coming in special to see the fireworks) I have been asked to pick them up at the airport and after the fireworks take them to get a rental for the few days their in Mich. Its Kinda cute that their in Europe now and I believe coming straight to Windsor from there...to end this update there is sad news to share; Cousin John died last month at the age 59, no memorial has been planned just yet.

Well, the second anniversary of your death came and went. Cousin Nancy reached out as did several others through the FB post that i made for both you and Vicki. Since than (only eleven or so days ago) quite a bit has transpired, Danny turned 80 and we had a party that you would have attended along with 80 other people...Karen, Stacey and Mark (shawn and the gang couldn't make due to jason had covid)...Gary & Barbera were there (from Oregon)...only one missing was anita (she said she couldn't get time off but most likely didn't have a passport) sad thing is Gary didn't bother to look her up while he was here. well that is all for this yearly installment remembering you dear brother (YES!! i said Dear brother) as i still often think of you.

I write to you today as promised since today is your 69th birthday.
I often  think of how sad you were, about the loss that was your life. Knowing your no longer sad nor lost is a welcoming bright thought that I'm left with. A reminder that in death a life is reborn.

  Back in February I joined with a fellow archivist to display in part your life as Vicki Martin as well as a good portion of Detroit gay community thanks to all of the articles & photos we both accumulated. In hindsight your life wasn't a total loss.

Today is the anniversary of when the house you lived in for 32 years (your last of 5) was sold, it was an arduous task to say the least, all your belongings (every single magazine, book and paperclip) most were destroyed yet a good majority shared with the girls, Gary & Raoul or were donated. The bulk of the furniture disposed of the exception being the roll top desk you were able to salvage and a few cabinets Anita brought to the house when she lived there that short time in 2014. I find it interesting I was able to do it all on my own, something we both knew would need to take place if you died first. I still have quite a few records even after unloading a good portion to a merchant here in Windsor and Wanda Simone. as today unfolds you are on my mind as you have been lately. If there is a heaven you are amongst the many "Girls" that went before you (a unique club to say the least). I know it was your time just wish I was there to aid you the night before which must have been sad for you all alone. well big brother I bid you ado till your 69th next year.

Your death date has come and gone, several people touched base Gary, Karen, Cousins Sam & Nancy, Aunt Pat ~ Karen and I posted something to FB (which by the way you would have loved this one group I found).  You touched our lives in many ways for 67 years yet we hardly knew you or at least I hardly did (I guess that's what you call "taking someone for granted") I write these words not knowing if anyone will see them, I only know it makes me feel better to have written down that you were on my mind. May you be finally at peace amongst the many you knew and loved that preceded you HOME!!

Today marks your 68th birthday and like so many before you I have posted to FaceBook a birthday message as has Karen which were replied to by several ~ I found a picture of you and Karen smiling which I shared with her. The events that followed your death are all a memory now. You remain in my heart with the fondness a little brother has, an appreciation for the hobby of archiving whether it be photographs or several other interests. may you realize you WILL NOT be forgotten!!

Ps; I also posted a birthday message to a FaceBook page remembering  Vicki, I found a great picture of her performing @ Gigi's, again she will NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!

the turmoil of this thing called covid thoroughly mucked life for all of us up something awful ~ because if it weren't for that i would have been with you through out instead of Karen.
The thought that it was Shawn who had to identify you is horrendous.
Work on the house and the property of yours left behind for me to disseminate has been a grueling experience to say the least ~ I've shared much with the kids, donated a lot and sold some keeping a nice stash for myself. 
You left us in the middle of turmoil/saddled me with a lot of crap yet as i write this i know you know that i did love you. i did damn it, i did!!

Dear sweet cousin Dave, a kind man with a heart of gold. I will miss your handwritten letters, your unending curiosity about family origin, your generous hugs and unconditional love. Until we meet again... cousin Sam.

I loved my cousin Dave!  He was so genuinely caring and loving and always was so excited to know how me and my family were doing and what we were up to. He truly cared. I could talk to him about anything and we could just laugh. I loved Dave and I will miss him. Another void. I am just thankful he is with all our loved ones and I will image him smiling laughing and happy in heaven. God bless you my special friend!

Cousin Dave was a caring and gentle person with a big and loving heart. He will be missed. Sending Love and Prayers to all Dave’s family 🌻🤟🌻

He will be missed and not forgotten.
It was so sad to hear of his passing and we hope he was at peace. 
Its hard to imagine that he is gone from our lives but we know he will always be in our hearts.
May his family and friends start the healing from his untimely  death.
