Andrew Kovalchik, age 97, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his nine siblings. He is survived by his son Andrew John (Karen) Kovalchik, daughter Jean Susan (Craig) Reider, daughter Ann Elizabeth (Mark) Stephens, seven grandchildren (Jessica, Holly, Lisa, Jill, Nathan, David, and Heather), and seven great-grandchildren (Davin, Quinn, Greyson, Keilani, Aiden, Hailey, and Sadie).
Andrew served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Second World War aboard the USS Canberra, CA-70, as an Electrician’s Mate First Class. After the war, he had a full career as a draftsman and die-designer in the Detroit area. He was an avid craftsman and woodworker, one of his favorite pastimes being building grandfather clocks, and he was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as a very kind and generous man.
His life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI, 48066. Visitation is at 10 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI, with full military honors.
