Ron D. Grindstaff, 69, of Rocklin, Ca. passed away peacefully November 20, 2010 in Auburn, Ca. after a 5 month battle with Cancer. He was born in Martin County, Indiana to the late Marvin Dale and Rosemary (Kidwell) Grindstaff. He was a 1959 graduate of St. John High and received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1963.
Ron married Julie Brown of Odon, Indiana August 8, 1969. They are the parents of Marcus of Folsom, Ca. and Michael of Roseville, Ca.
Ron was a retired Intel executive, establishing manufacturing facilities in California, Oregon, Arizona, Puerto Rico and Singapore over a 30 year career with the company. He was selected as the Loogootee Schools alumnus of the year in 2009.
Ron had a passion for sports, particularly Loogootee High school basketball and College athletics of all kinds. He loved travel, spreading the gospel of life in Loogootee throughout the world. He also developed quite a green thumb growing roses in his backyard.
Ron was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin. He is survived by his wife, Julie; sons Marcus (Lynda) and Michael; grandchildren Andrew, Lauren and Kelsie; brother Gordon of Mooresville, In. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, sister Vera Rose Lunsford, brother Peter Bernard, niece Patricia Lunsford and nephew John Grindstaff.
A memorial gathering will take place Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 4:00 P.M, with a rosary at 6 P.M. the same night, at Lambert Funeral Home in Roseville, Ca. (www.lambertsfuneralhome.com). A mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Sts Peter and Paul in Rocklin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
