Pat was born July 28, 1935 in Tulare, CA, the third daughter of Eldrige “Lee” and Flossie Irene (McCowan) McBride. Five years separated her from younger sister, Marilyn, and the two were close while growing up in the areas of San Luis Obispo, Visalia, Morro Bay and Fresno. Always a leader and organizer, Pat was known to gather playmates and orchestrate group games. She was quite imaginative, providing “entertainment” with creative tour tips during car rides and endless adventures during leisurely summer days.
Pat married Aristide (Steve) Boulet in 1965, and they lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida near Cape Canaveral where they both worked in the aerospace industry. For a few years they lived in Seattle, Washington while working for Boeing before returning to Jacksonville, FL. During the summer months, Pat cared for her stepdaughter, Tami, and through the years they developed
a treasured relationship.
After their divorce in 1980, Pat returned to California to live and work in Sunnyvale. She also attended the University of San Francisco and graduated in 1992 with a B.A. in Fine Arts.
Pat worked as Executive Assistant to the Legal Department of Fujitsu for many years. After retiring she moved, in March 2020, to El Dorado Hills, CA to be closer to her sister and other family in that area.
Pat's avocations included painting, writing and caring for small animals. She produced dozens of beautiful oil paintings, often with themes of spiritual inspiration or her love of animals. In addition to writing (and sometimes illustrating) several short stories, two of her books were published; Hollyhock Summer and When Ely Learned to Fly. Pat’s compassionate heart led her to volunteer at the after-school Kids Club through her church and she worked tirelessly with feral cat organizations.
The most important part of her life was her relationship with Jesus. Pat was faithful to church participation, but it was her personal devotion to prayer and seeking to live a life honoring her Heavenly Father that were central to her being. The one thing she wanted most of all in life was to share the love of Jesus. She once said “Jesus” is who she hoped people would know about when remembering her.
She is survived by her youngest sister Marilyn (Wosick), step-daughter Tami (Nick Rizza) Boulet, grand-son Nicholas and numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, twin sisters Bobbie (Blesz) and Betty (McDaniel), and infant brother Lee Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunnyvale International Church, 521 East Weddell Drive, Sunnyvale, CA on Saturday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m.
