Born June 2, 1923 to Fredrick Nerriah Lewis and Vesta Mary Corbridge in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away on October 9, 2010 at the age of 87. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Louise Haynes, children, Linda (Billie), Dauna (Bruce), Teresa (Guy), and Randall, 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by brothers, Keith Lewis and Doran Lewis. Oren was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Velta, brother, Earl, son, David, grandson, Hallie, and his great-grandson, Brady. Oren enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, waterskiing and traveling the world with his family and friends. Resident of Sacramento County since 1952. Served his country in the US Army Air Corps in World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam. Retired from McClellan AFB in 1973. Worked in construction for many years. Spent his last years flying alongside his son-in-law, Guy, with Wentzel Flying. Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many leadership positions. Oren and Mary served in the Colorado Denver Mission. Oren loved helping everyone and was always looking for opportunities to serve others. He encouraged all to be loyal Americans. He was a friend to all he met. He was a war hero and a special hero to his son and many friends. His smiling countenance will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, October 10, from 6 to 8 pm at Mt. Vernon, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, and at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2100 California Circle, Rancho Cordova, on Monday, October 11, 10 am prior to funeral services at 11 am. Interment will be at Mt Vernon.
