Melvin Glendon (Glen) Dillingham passed away at his home in San Leandro on August 25, 2016. Over the last twenty years, Glen beat multiple types of cancer: bladder, skin, gland, and vocal cord. His lymphoma, which is a terminal cancer, was in remission this year but the treatments took a toll on his health.
Glen was born in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1935, at the Lawton Indian Hospital. He was a very proud Chickasaw Indian. As a child and teenager, he worked in the fields and orchards. In California, he worked in the logging industry, railroad, carpentry, and Union labor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Florene Porter Dillingham, his brother Kenneth (Ruth) Dillingham and his wife Dorothy Scott, Dillingham. Glen leaves behind his daughter, Glenda Susan Dillingham, step-daughter Sandy (Fred) Trieselmann, his step-grandsons Erich and Zachary Trieselmann, his siblings Annette Smith, Isabel (Jesse Martinez) Johnson and Olen (Mary) Dillingham, his nieces Denise (Kent) Ackerman, Selena (Mike) Kellermann, Genila Fikes, Sarah (Chris) Dempsey, Teddy (Ryan Hague) Dillingham, Sonia (Claro) Soto, his nephews Dennis (Connie) Dillingham and Jesse Dillingham, and 14 great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and his caregiver of four years Veronica Sisson.
Glen was a "man's man," meaning if he gave his word it was as good as a contract. He could fix anything from your minor medical problem to building a room, from fixing your electrical problem to doctoring your pet. He was wiser than most of us and was called Dr. Dillingham by family members.
A viewing will be held Wednesday August 31st between 2:00 pm and 4:00pm at Lambert's Funeral Home on 400 Douglas Boulevard in Roseville. A memorial dinner will follow at 4:30pm at Best Western Plus Orchid Hotel and Suites 130 N Sunrise Ave Roseville, CA 95661 in the Fountain Room. All friends and family are invited to attend.
