My daughter, Kiersten, and I traveled by train from New Mexico to California to visit my brother’s family back in the seventies. The grandparents, John and Dorothy Thompson, visiting from Nebraska, invited their grandchildren (Marc, Lisa, Holly and Kiersten) to go to Disneyland.  It was clear when we arrived at Disneyland that this was already familiar turf for Marc, who was all of 6 or 7 years of age. Marc hurried us along to It’s a Small World where we boarded a boat and sailed along a water route of characters with Marc & Grandma Dorothy excitedly pointing out the special Disney stories, songs and features. The grandchildren stopped to talk to the many Disney characters along Main Street: Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Captain Hook, Cinderella. They went to many Disney sites, including Splash Mountain and the Captain’s Pirate Ship, ate cotton candy, hot dogs and ice cream cones.  When it came time for the many exciting rides at Disneyland, Marc would run ahead of the rest of us, stand in line and hold a spot for his sisters and cousin until they could breathlessly catch up to him.   Marc never lost sight of us nor did he get lost, even though the grounds were swarming with visitors up until closing. We will always cherish the happy memory of the trip to Disneyland with Marc as our goodnatured & knowledgeable guide!  

We are very sad to hear about Marc. He was a very  loyal employee at Future Nissan in Roseville. We will miss him very much.

Dear Lisa and Holly,
How I wish I had known my cousin Marc .  I do know that your mom was so proud of all of her children and loved all of you beyond measure.  Whether by talking on the phone, or reading her beautiful letters, she would keep me updated on my cousins' accomplishments. I remember wishing that  we had all grown up together.  I  am so sorry for your loss.  I know what it is like to lose a brother, and I know he will forever be cherished and remembered.

Words cannot offer the comfort that I wish I could offer through healing hugs, and sharing memories (albeit you might have been too young to remember the fun that I had with you and Marc when you were little ones). This is such a difficult time to experience losing Marc while we struggle with so many prolonged pervasive crises. You and your families are in my thoughts, truly in my heart. I hope we soon have a time when we gather in shared space and honor Marc.  Soon, I hope . . .  Peggy and Family
