Kenneth Victor Anderson

Ken was born in Hollywood, California to Ruth & Carl Anderson on April 18, 1931. Early on he was always a hard worker and loving person to all of his friends and family. In his late teens and early 20’s he worked in newspaper distribution and was in the Air National Guard.

On April 10, 1952, he married the love of his life, Delores (Dodie) H. Howe. They met at North Hollywood High School and were soulmates for life. On July 25, 1954 they welcomed their first child, a son, Stephen (Steve) D. Anderson in Burbank, California. On January 15, 1968, they welcomed a daughter, Tami L. Anderson, in South Lake Tahoe, California.

Ken, Dodie and Steve lived in Southern California until 1961 when they moved to South Lake Tahoe, California. There they owned and ran small hotels and the Greyhound bus station. But the most long-standing business he created was establishing the South Tahoe Newspaper Agency. This company handled distribution of numerous out-of-town newspapers including the; San Francisco Chronicle, LA Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Reno Gazette Journal, Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Union, San Jose Mercury, Oakland Tribune and USA Today. He eventually ran this business with his son, Steve, who took it over when he retired in the 1990’s.

During his life he always enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling and having many fun adventures. Some of his favorite things to do were boating, car and boat races, cruising, RV traveling and golfing. He always enjoyed owning “toys” like boats, cars, RV’s and various homes in Southern and Northern California. But most important to him was his family. He was a truly loving and selfless husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be truly missed and forever loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth & Carl Anderson, his sister Joan, his grandparents, and many other relatives and close friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Dodie, his son Steve & daughter-in-law Barb, daughter Tami and son-in-law Scott, grandkids; Chris Anderson, Katie Long, Nicholas Rush and Noah Rush, and great grandkids; Nathan, Ethan, Ella, Cooper, Avery, and Abbey.

The family of Ken wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of his wonderful nurses, doctors, and therapists at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. A memorial will be held in early 2024 to celebrate him.
