Karen Shore Riley passed away at home in Roseville, CA on October 28, 2011 of respiratory failure.
Karen was born September 27, 1949 in Grand Forks, ND to Leslie H. Shore and Loretta Shore Stevens. The family moved to Port Angeles in 1954 where she was raised and attended schools.
Karen’s longtime career in the restaurant and retail industries started in Port Angeles and continued when she moved to Seattle, where she lived until moving to Sacramento, California in 1986. She was proud of her long association with Black Angus restaurant.
She married the love of her life, Andrew Riley, on October 16, 1995 in Reno, Nevada and they’d recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary. Some of their most fun times were spent on motorcycle rides in the Sierra foothills.
Karen loved life and lived it to the fullest. She treasured family gatherings and could always be counted on to provide lively entertainment. She was a people person who made friends easily and was never without a close group of girlfriends wherever she lived. Her thoughtfulness and kindness touched many lives.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping, beading, playing yahtzee, keeping up on the latest styles, and finding the best slot machine.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Andy of Roseville, stepdaughter Tricia Velting of Grand Rapids, MI, step-granddaughters Megan and Madelyn, sisters Patricia Watson of Lynnwood, WA, Eileen Hipkiss of Sonoma, CA, Connie Simpson of Bellingham, WA, Susan Trickey of Port Angeles; brothers Roger and Mike Shore, both of Port Angeles; six nephews and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Shore and her mother, Loretta Shore Stevens.
Cremation arrangements by Lambert Funeral Home, Roseville, CA. A celebration of life will be held in Roseville on November 12 and at a later date in Port Angeles, WA.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to charity of donor's choice.
