Josefa "Pepa" Duran was born in Ruidosa, TX on October 25, 1922. She entered heavens gates on June 10, 2015. In her early years, Josefa worked hard as a farm laborer and then settled down as a homemaker who was deeply devoted to her faith, family and was a mother to many. Josefa was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years her family expanded to five generations. She loved music, especially mariachi and dancing to cumbias and corridos. She enjoyed watching Sabado gigante, her favorite novelas, and old west shows. She had an effortless love for her family and more without hesitation.
Josefa was preceded in death by her loving husband Julio Duran of 32 years. Parents Manuel and Manuela Luera, brothers Andres and Pablo Luera, sisters Pilar Navarrette and Petra Luera, and daughter Inez Duran.
She is survived by her brothers Efren and Manuel Luera Jr. Children -Manuela Osario, Lupe Chavez, Esperanza Hinajosa, Nina Martinez, Maria Schallert, Anita Felix, Cecilio Duran, Catarina Rodriguez, Pedro Duran, Celia Duran, Donna Sandoval, Grace Duran, adopted mother to Guadalupe Castro, Antonio Duran, Margarita Ydrogo, and grandmother to countless grandchildren.
The family gives everyone who contributed to the care and comfort of Josefa their greatest gratitude. Family welcomes all to join them for traditional Catholic services being held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 615 Vine Street, Roseville, CA 95678 on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 4-6 pm viewing, 6-7 pm Rosary. Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 10 am Mass and burial at Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry Street, Roseville, CA 95678. Potluck reception immediately following burial at St. Rose hall.
