John Joseph Volkenant

John was born on February 20, 1929 to Hugo and Rose (Schulte) Volkenant of St. Paul, MN.

He graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School and then attended the University of Minnesota, participating in ROTC.

John was a career Air Force officer, and a veteran of the Korean War. He and his wife met in Japan during the war, where she was an officer in the nurse’s corps, and began dating when they were both stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. He was transferred to multiple locations as his family grew, until he retired and then moved to California.

John is predeceased by his parents, wife - Mary Jane (Storrick) Volkenant, daughter - Mary Kathryn Volkenant, son-in-law - Don Meurer, and brother -George Volkenant.

His family and friends will miss him. He leaves behind his daughters and sons-in-law - Marnie Meurer, Constance and Brian Pelletier, and Carol and Brian Veitch; grandchildren – Andreas Seiler and fiancé, Nicole Bork, Alexandra Seiler, and Jared Doak; great-grandson, Jasper Seiler; several step-children and their families and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date in St. Paul, Minnesota.
