George Paul Pasilis died of a heart attack at the age of 91 in Roseville, California on November 7, 2011.
George was born on April 19, 1920, in Aurora, Illinois. He was one of seven children born to John and Valeria Pasilis, who were Lithuanian immigrants. Today the Sears and Roebuck catalog home that they built is on the Aurora, Illinois historical home list.
George was a retired Navy Boatswain’s Mate Chief with 30 years of service. He also was employed by Argonne National Laboratories in Lemont, Illinois and the City of Naperville Electric Department.
George served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1937 - 1967, during World War II and the Korean War. George was a lifetime, Millennium member, of the Fleet Reserve Association, a member of the Sun City Roseville Veterans’ Club, and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an avid reader and especially appreciated books about U. S. history. He enjoyed creative writing and wrote many stories about his experiences in the Navy. As a follower of current events, he often contributed letters to the editor that were published in the Sacramento Bee and the Sun Senior Newsletter.
George will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of play on words.
George is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Knipppen), and daughter Georgeann Hardy of Union City, California; grandchildren: Daniel Lord Pasilis, of Rushville, Indiana, Heather Hardy (Hunt) of San Jose, CA, and Timothy Hardy of Union City, CA; great grandchildren Morgan Pasilis and Tanner and Gavin Hunt; his brother Felix of Tucson, Arizona, sister Teresa Kelly of Summit, Washington, and brother Michael of Imboden, Arkansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughters Mary Phyllis Pasilis and Rosemary Pasilis, his brothers John and Andrew Pasilis and sister Catherine Fedorovich.
Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville, Illinois. Arrangements are provided by the Frederich and Jones Funeral Home at 44 South Mill St., Naperville, IL. The burial date is to be determined.
