At twenty two years of age, Bud enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While enlisted in service, Bud was fortunate to visit many European countries including France, Belgium and Holland. Bud served four years with the U.S. Air Force, and completed his service with the honors of Staff Sergeant, Engineering, while primarily stationed in Germany.
When Bud returned to the United States, Bud started his career with Pacific Telephone Company. Bud completed his career with Pacific Bell on July 1, 1982. Bud enjoyed forecasting in mid management, and as acting Safety Supervisor, and retired from the Pacific Bell Watt Avenue location in Sacramento.

After the children were grown, Bud and Jean found great joy in continuing these statewide adventures, plus traveling to Europe and via cruise to Alaska. Their love for the outdoors eventually resulted in moving residence to Shingletown, CA in Shasta County to be nearer to wonderful fishing lakes and streams. They resided there for twenty years. In 2013, Bud and Jean moved to Eskaton Village, Roseville, CA.
Bud was preceded in death by his dear wife Jean, best friend and mother to their children, Cynthia, and Dean, on January 28, 2016.
Bud found many friends in Eskaton Village. Bud enjoyed the weekly “Friday Night” gatherings and participating in the choral group. Reading historical fiction and nonfiction was his relaxation.
