January 1, 1923 in Varvarovka, Ukraine. A cherished father, grandfather, and great grandfather, his 101
amazing years on this earth were characterized by his courage, kindness, generosity and honesty in
everything he did. He believed in, and lived by, the Golden Rule; and his Orthodox religion was
paramount in his life.
Bill worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over 25 years. He was an avid fisherman and an
accomplished gardener. He was the master mechanic, amazing carpenter, and the ultimate do-it-
yourselfer, having an innate ability to fix almost anything.
Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Martha. He is survived by his daughter,
Katherine Smith and her husband of Danville, CA; his son, Paul and his wife of Fair Oaks, CA; his son,
Anatoly and his wife of Merritt Island, FL; and 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great great
grandchildren.
