Irene Brown passed away at the Rose Villa in Rosetown on November 25, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Rosetown and grew up in the Herschel District. In 1947 she married Gordon Brown and they settled in the Stranraer area. She loved gardening and the outdoors; in fact she was an active –cloud- weather watcher, always writing the weather down on the calendar. In 1996, Gordon and Irene bought a house and moved to Rosetown. After Gordon’s passing in 1997, Irene remained in the house living independently until she moved to McNab Place. Next she resided in the lodge where she enjoyed the company of the other residents. Upon moving to the Rose Villa last January she remained there until her passing. Irene is survived by her four daughters, Linda Ramnes of Rosetown, Treena (Glen) Kinsey, Lisa (Steve) Mathison {Keira, Halle}, Kenton (Kerry) Ramnes {McKenna}; Patricia (Ed) Ramstad of Blackfalds, AB, Carrie (Sheldon) {Logan,Ty}, Shannon {Riley, Sophie}, Ashley (Curtis) {Eli, Myles}; Beverly Booth of Battleford, Jordon, Shane (Amanda) {Sierra}; Roxane (Murray) Therres of Martensville, Jackie (Dean) and Christopher; one brother Raymond (Nadean) Meints from Fort McMurray and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon (1997), her parents Ernie and Alice, her brothers Leslie and Ron, and her sisters Winnie and Joyce, and her son-in-law Calvin Booth. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, November 29th at Clements Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. Organist was Gloria Nickell with the hymns “In the Garden”, “Old Rugged Cross” “Rock Of Ages” Finishing with Irene’s favorite Christmas music of “Silent Night”. A lunch followed in the lunch room. The interment will occur at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to the Rose Villa Nursing Centre (Box 850).
