Marsha Lynn Nance Gaskin passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2021. Marsha was born on February 19, 1957 in Rome, GA to the late Cecil Ray Nance and Mary Ann Nance Land. After being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in November of 1978 at the age of 21, she continued to battle the disease until her death. She attended Coosa School and was a member of Refuge Church (formerly Wax Baptist Church).
Marsha is survived by her beloved husband Ricky Gaskin to whom she was married for 38 years. She also leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jeremy Gaskin and Scott Hudson. Four grandchildren Hayden Gaskin, Summer Gaskin, Gary Gaskin and Haley Falls. She is also survived by three siblings, Jayne Nance Diggs and her husband Gary of Silver Creek; Betty Herron and her husband Ted of Akron, Ohio; Wyatt Nance and his wife Carole of Cartersville and a very special aunt, Sue Bowman who resides in Rainsville, Alabama.
Family members and close friends of Marsha observed a woman of great faith and courage…never complaining of the pain or inconvenience of her debilitating disease. She loved the Lord with all her heart and on the most difficult and painful days, would often comment “I know that God has purpose for me”. She adored her grandchildren and when they would visit or stay overnight she made sure they enjoyed the outdoors, barnyard animals, riding around their property in the golf cart, playing games, watching their favorite cartoon or movie and much more.
According to her wishes, Marsha will be cremated and her ashes scattered at a favorite location on their property. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family of Marsha would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Tapestry Care Hospice, with a special thank you to Crystal, Heather and Leigha.
