A native of Rome, Marilyn Murdock McLean was born July 30th, 1953, the daughter of the late Robert Arthur Sr. and Gwen Murdock. Marilyn was retired from the Floyd County school system, where she worked as an elementary school teacher for Armuchee elementary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Richard Cecil McLean and her parents.
Marilyn was an amazingly loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was beautiful, gracious, kind and fun-loving.
She was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church, where she served in many roles. She was also an active member of the Rome Noon Optimist Club.
She met and married the love of her life, Richard McLean after only dating a few months. She leaves behind her three daughters, Dani McLean Cleckler (Nick), Nikki McLean Smith (Michael), Mariah McLean Lightner (Keith), two brothers Robert Murdock Jr. (Candace) and Michael Murdock. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren: Jackson Cleckler, Nolan Cleckler, Reid Smith, Tanner Cleckler, Sawyer Cleckler, Blair Smith, Lindsey Cheek, Brooke Lindsey and Kylie Lightner, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7th, at 1:00PM at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00, before the funeral. At other hours, the family may be contacted at her residence.
