He was born in Donalsonville, GA on April 3, 1938, son of Collie E. Hill, Sr and Evelyn Gause Hill. He graduated from Seminole County High School and served in the United States Air Force. He attended Brewton Parker College and Shorter College and received a Master of Church Music degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. As a Minister of Music and Youth, he served in numerous churches in Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia leading many youth choir and mission trips. Before retirement, he was an active member and was president of the Optimist Club and Lions Club in Cumming, GA. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Rome and sang in the choir.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Joan Hicks Hill, to whom he was married on July 10, 1966, by a daughter, Kim Hill Tunnell (Mark), Rome, GA and son, Kevin Howard Hill (Elizabeth), Atlanta, GA, and by grandchildren Jack, Hillary, Sarah, Carter and Emerson. He is also survived by a brother, Johnny Hill, Donalsonville, GA and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 am, Friday, January 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Rome, with family visitation following the service.
