Kandi was a loving and devoted mother and wife, a committed volunteer for her church and community and a friend to all. After losing her husband to cancer nine years ago, she devoted herself to serving the cause of cancer education, support and cure. She was a dedicated volunteer using her special creative gifts for the cause by organizing walks and events, and was an active Board member of Cancer Navigators.
A dedicated community volunteer she was a member of the Junior Service League, Green Thumb Garden Club, and a graduate of Leadership Georgia Class of 2001. She shared her creative talents with countless efforts, organizations and individuals. She was a faithful servant of God, her church, First United Methodist Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She worked at National City Bank and Riddle Office Supply for a number of years before joining the staff at Darlington School. During her sixteen years at Darlington, she distinguished herself in and out of the classroom as a teacher, coach and technology specialist. Darlington bestowed upon her the highest award for employee excellence. Much beloved by students and her colleagues, Darlington was her extended family.
Her final days on the Oncology Floor at Redmond Regional Hospital were a testament to how Kandi lived her life, and as her family and friends have remarked: “A waiting room always full of good friends; her students from throughout the years; never an empty chair; her door covered with bright colorful art, so much joy and happiness.” She remained positive, never a complaint, always a smile, and extended her special kindness and love to everyone.
