Jane Malone Burch, age 92, peacefully passed into God’s presence on Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born on March 15, 1932 in Sugar Valley, Georgia, daughter of the late Lois Bandy Malone and Joseph Guy Malone. Jane was married to the late John Marcellus Burch on June 27, 1953.
Jane spent her first six years living in Sugar Valley surrounded by extended family who were involved in the chenille bedspread business. In 1923 her parents opened their own business in Kingston Georgia. Jane entered first grade at Kingston elementary school, eventually graduating from Cass High School in June 1949. Her first two years of college were spent at West Georgia College in Carrollton Georgia. She went on to graduate from The University of Georgia in Athens with a degree in Home Economics in 1953. During her senior year in High School, she met the love of her life, John Burch. After a four-year courtship, they were married in The Kingston Baptist Church on June 27, 1953. She taught Home Economics at Fairburn High School in south Fulton County for two years until their first son, Joseph John Burch was born on March 30, 1956. A daughter, Jeanna Marcellus Burch followed on September 30, 1958. Jane remained a housewife and devoted wife and mother until her recent passing.
Jane and John devoted their lives to God and were very involved in all the churches that they were members of during their lives. Both of them always put God first in their lives. They provided their children with love and constant support. Jane was the ultimate southern hostess, always providing excellent meals in a charming home. She followed John in his career path with the Gulf Oil Company. They lived in nine different houses in five different cities during his career. Finally in retirement, they built their forever home in Kingston Georgia where they lived their golden years enjoying each other’s company. They traveled extensively around the world during this time and enjoyed time with their grandchildren.
Preceding Jane in death was her husband of 67 years, John Marcellus Burch. She is survived by her son Dr. Joseph John Burch (Cheryl Anne) of Kingston; Jeanna Burch Bierenfeld (Henry); grandchildren Cameron Kenneth Miller (Beth), Brian Joseph Burch (Kaitlin), Virginia Iris Elizabeth Manley (TJ), Carter Wayne Miller (Holly), Alexander John William Burch; great grandsons, Everett Manley, Oliver Manley and Brody Miller.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church, Rome Georgia on Saturday, January 4, 2024. Visitation will take place at 10:00AM with the service at 11:00AM.
