Henry Ewing Dean III (Hank) born Jan. 8 1954, passed from this world to the heavens above on March 24, 2020. He was born in Jacksonville Florida where he spent most of his life, and died in Rome, Ga.
He is preceded in death by his father Henry Ewing Dean Jr. and mother Eloise Ashby Cummins.
He is survived by his loving wife Caroline J. Dean, his 3 sons Henry E. Dean IV of Atlanta, GA, Charles A.A. Dean and wife Sarah of Dayton, Ohio, and Alexander L. Dean of Rome, Ga. His Sister Eloise Dean Slade and husband (Bill) of Jacksonville, his 2 brothers Clarence Ashby Dean of Berry Creek, CA., and Thomas D.S. Dean and wife Stacia of Jacksonville, Fl. 6 nephews and 2 nieces.
Hank grew up in Jacksonville Florida and graduated from Bolles School. He went on to attend The University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. and graduated with a Bachelors degree in English He met the love of his life (Caroline) in 1975 and made her his bride in 1979. He was a loving and great father to 3 sons, which he referred to as his warriors. Henry, Charles and Alex. He had a few sales jobs that he did well at till he took over his families business (The Monticello Co. INC) as CEO and ran it from 1996 till 2014. He then came home to Rome or as he loved to call it Mayberry to enjoy his family and fur babies.
Some of you knew him as “Hue Heffner” (in his bathrobe) or the “Candy Man” (with his peppermints). However, you knew him his legend will undoubtedly echo in our hearts and community. He was a good man who was always there when you needed, shared a smile and a peppermint to everyone he came across, and always made others feel comfortable and safe.
He loved traveling, skiing and playing video games. He had a great love of the Lord God Almighty and touched everyone he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him especially his family.
