She was born on March 13, 1941, in Ellsworth, Kansas to the late Glenn Woodmansee and the late Evelyn Kepka Woodmansee Spencer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Don Krueger.
In her early years, she worked for State Farm Insurance. Gwen was employed by Floyd Medical Center for 26 years, until her retirement in July, 2010. She loved her job and helping others. In her free time, she enjoyed just spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach, line dancing, card games, Braves games, and volunteering wherever and whenever she was needed. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Glendene and Bill Naguszewski. Other survivors include her step-father, Charles “Rusty” Spencer, her dog, Gracie and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Kingery and Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating with music by Neil Sanders and vocalist, Josclyn Giles. Interment was at Floyd Memory Gardens, Rome, immediately following the funeral.
Pallbearers met at the church at 12:30 Saturday and included John Brown, Ronnie Corntassell, Eddie Giles, Jim Harris, Harvey Shelley and Al Turner. Honorary pallbearers were Robbie Ann Baker, Tami Berry, Sharon Corntassel, Beverly Gauthreaux, Kim Giles, Joan Hendrix and Joan Mulrennan.
Mrs. Krueger lay in state at Daniel’s Funeral Home where the family received friends on Friday, July 15, 2011, from 6:30 until 9 p.m. The Rosary will be at 6 p.m. led by Ciro Pena.
