Annette was born to the late Erskin Donal Ward and Mattie Emma Ward in Andalusia,
Alabama on March 13, 1953.
She will be remembered for her loving spirit, wit and sense of humor and her knack for making everyone she met feel like family.
After dating 6 months, Annette married the love of her life, Daniel Driver Smith, on April
9, 1972. To this union two sons were born, Daniel Chessman Smith and Clayton Ward Smith.
Her family was the light of her life. She was a homemaker at heart and caring for people is what
she did best. She worked as a paraprofessional in the Floyd County School System for over 25
years and influenced the lives of many children. She was tremendous cook and enjoyed sharing
her culinary endeavors with her family and friends. Her green thumb was evident when visiting
her home by all the beautiful plants she nurtured. She was always ready to lend a helping hand
to those in need.
Annette is preceded in death by her parents, Erskin Donal Ward and Mattie Emma Ward;
and her brother, Terry Randall Ward.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Daniel Driver Smith; sons, Daniel
Chessman Smith, Clayton Ward Smith and his wife, Holly, and honorary son, Mark Dewayne
White and his wife, Brandy; grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Emma Smith and Macy Smith;
sister, Donna Landgren; as well as a host of dear family and friends.
