Gayle grew up in Milledgeville, GA. She was active in GA’s, Sunday school, and girl scouts from a young age. She was a friend to everyone she met, never shy, rarely reserved, and she gave of herself all of her life. She and Art married in 1991 and built a beautiful life rooted in their faith in God and their love of family. They grew vegetables, hosted game nights, and were always in attendance at their family’s events. They hosted holidays, cooked world class meals, and never hesitated to turn up the music and dance. Though she never had children of her own, Gayle was a mother and a grandmother to many. Love came naturally to her. She was able to give and show Gods love through her actions all of her life. She will always be treasured by her family for her thoughtful ways and deep love.
Gayle is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Art Crawford; daughters, Angie Steele(Sander) of Fort Myers, FL., Bonnie Lloyd(Matt) of Rome, GA., Amy Dodson(Ken) of Indianapolis, IN; son, Zach Chesnut of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Sara Pass, Mari Brennan(Evan), Leah Brennan(Cathy), Derrick Campbelle(Kylie), Taylor Hodges(Austin), Ryan Williams and Blake Williams; great-grandchildren, Maddux Campbell, Elliot and Tate Pass, Rio and Rocky Hodges.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at six o’clock in the evening at Garden Lakes Baptist Church. According to her wishes, Gayle was cremated.
