Mr. Tant was born on September 23, 1933, and was a longtime resident of Rome, Floyd County, GA. He was the son of the late Frank Marcel Tant and Sarah Cleo Powers Tant. Prior to retirement, Frank was associated with Pontiac Motor Company in the accounting department, and a business owner/consultant handling restaurant setups. He was of strong Baptist faith and an avid reader. Frank loved traveling all over the U.S. and Canda in his RV and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. During his travels with his wife, they found a wonderful spot in Quartzsite, AR where he spent three to four months a year enjoyed riding four wheelers and playing golf in the abundant sunshine. Frank was dedicated and loved his family and friends. Mr. Tant is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Leila Mae Smith Tant; a son, M. Grady Tant; three brothers, Porter Tant, Marcel Tant and Carlton Tant; two sisters, Ida Wallace and Mary Alice Garmon.
Survivors include a son, John Tant of AK; daughter-in-law, Sandra H. Tant of GA; two step-daughters, Deborah Barber and husband, Billy and Charlene Shepherd all of GA; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family received friends on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment followed at Cave Spring Cemetery later in that day.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Georgia Masonic Charities, Inc., 811 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA, 31201 or Cartersville Elks Lodge #1969, 1715 West Avenue, Cartersville, GA 30120.
