Mr. Edward Thomas Jackson of Silver Creek passed away on the evening of November 14, 2021 surrounded by family. Mr Jackson was born in Floyd County on November 25, 1943, son of the late Edward Lewis Jackson and the late Opal Henry Jackson. He was a natural on the baseball field, playing all four years at Pepperell High School, where he was a member of the graduating class of 1961.
Mr. Jackson was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, proudly serving as a Military Policeman, and climbing to the rank of an E-5 Sergeant. After his military service, Mr. Jackson followed his passion for automobiles, and pursued an active career in the automobile industry; most notably for Lowe Oldsmobile Cadillac where he worked for over 25 years. Outside of his career, he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, was an avid sports fan, and could almost always be found watching the Braves and the Falcons.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Scoggins Jackson, two children; Angie Garrard (Tony), Meridianville, AL; Bradley Jackson, Steamboat Springs, CO; two grandchildren Kyle Garrard, Savannah, GA; Kade Garrard, Athens, GA; nephew Marc Hyde, Lindale, GA.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 1:30pm at Daniel's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12pm until the time of the service. A burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
The Rev. Don Spears will be officiating.
Pallbearers include Kyle Garrard, Kade Garrard, Tony Garrard, Marc Hyde, and Rob Broadnax. Honorary Pallbearers: Jack Copeland, Randolph Oswalt, Howard Alexander, Merv Gould, Steve Sorrow, Bruce Rood, Steve Rood, Buddy Keene,Tom Melton,Tom Caldwell and Roger Manis.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.
