Mrs. Terhune was born in Floyd County, on November 3, 1933. She was the daughter of William Lokey and Lydia Elizabeth "Chunk" Thomas. She attended Flo School, McHenry School and was in the first 12th grade graduating class of Pepperell High School in 1952.
Mrs. Terhune met her future husband J.W. Terhune and married in 1952. She worked at Belk-Rhodes and Christmas time at Wyatt's. Her greatest joy and happiness was in taking care of her husband J.W., daughter Johnette and later in life caring for her two grandsons, Bradley and Ed. Mrs. Terhune found joy in painting, sewing, cooking, working in the yard and garden, but especially bird watching. As a charter member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, she sang in the choir and rocked many babies in the nursery.
Mrs. Terhune was preceded in death by her parents Lokey and Chunk Thomas, her loving husband of 63 years J.W. and her grandson Ed. She is survived by her daughter Johnette Terhune Chambers, Rome, Ga; grandson, Bradley Chambers, of Rome, Ga; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Nevaeh.
The family would like to thank the staff of Traditions Hospice, and two precious caregivers; Nancy and Robin.
Services will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at Woodlawn Baptist Church; located at 1649 Cartersville Highway, Rome. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am. The reverends Legare' Price, Rick Jacobs, and Steve Johnston will be officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: grandson Bradley Chambers, Butch Baldwin, Jerry Jacobs, Carey James, Wade Johnson, Steve Johnston, Phil Litton and Rodney Stepp. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Frank Davis and Jimmy Jordan.
Floral arrangements are being accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church in her honor and memory.
