Darwin Hampton Terry

Mr. Terry was born in Rome, GA on November 9, 1952. He was the son of the late Wade Hampton Terry and Margaret Virginia McCauley Terry. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, John McCauley; one brother, Wyman Donald Terry; and one sister, Brenda Brown. He also leaves behind his special friend, a dapple-colored dachshund named "Winn-Dixie".

Mr. Terry was a member of the Shriners of Atlanta and he loved to dress up as "Waddles the Clown" for the Atlanta Shriners for children. He was also a mason with the Lindale Lodge. He never met a stranger. Mr. Terry enjoyed fellowshipping and eating with his friends in the breakfast group at the Hardee's Restaurants and its employees in Rome. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher "Matthew" Terry and Eli Bridge Terry; three daughters, Stephanie Dawn Terry Nichols (Adam), Buffy Marie Hebert (Keith), and Carwin Dehaven Terry; seven grandchildren, Taylor Terry, Morgan Terry Nichols, Maizie Reese, Caymon Terry, Keremy Allen, Caden Terry, and Kolby Terry; and one brother; Vernon Wade Terry (Ann).

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1649 Cartersville Highway SE, Rome, GA 30161. A memorial service will then follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at the church with Rev. David Nance officiating. A burial of Mr. Terry's ashes will take place at a later date.
