Barbara Peterson Smith

Barbara was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 1, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Harold Peterson and Eleanor Keil Peterson. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1955 with a B.S. in nursing, and then graduating from Georgia State University with a master’s in nursing in 1972. She taught nursing at the Coosa Valley Technical Institute, Floyd Jr. College and was the director of Student health at Berry college.

After retiring from nursing, she and her husband started a business called Qualortron, Inc from 1993 to 2021. Barbara and her husband Edward were faithful members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was a wonderful mother raising 4 sons.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce David Smith (Carolyn) and Eric Craig Smith (Betsy); her grandchildren, Catherine Smith, Virginia Smith and Craig Smith, daughter-in-law, Laura Ann Moore, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Charles Smith, sons, Edward Charles Smith Jr, Mark Stephen Smith and her grandson, Christopher Adam Smith.

A Biblical wake for Barbara and her husband Edward will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating and delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until the funeral time.
