Patty Jean Howe Hartman, 78, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away on September 8, 2024, at her home after a long illness with her husband and son by her side. She was born to Harold and Letta Howe in Junction City, Kansas on November 1, 1945.
Patty met Charles (Charlie) when she was 12 - they lived 2 blocks from each other in Junction City, KS and have been a couple ever since. Against all odds, they got married 3 days after Patty turned 15 on November 3, 1960 and were married for 63 years. In 1962 they were blessed with one son, Steven.
Patty and Charlie lived in various cities around the US for the first 15 years of marriage, but always returned to the Kansas area where their roots were.
Patty was a supervisor at El Dorado Motor Corporation where she managed the final finish line for RV’s while living in Minneapolis, Kansas. She became a homemaker and caregiver once they relocated to Bentonville, AR for their grandchildren. She loved picking them up from school and making sure all their homework was done. They would finish the day with a milkshake and a movie that was probably too old for them to watch. She taught them how to keep a clean home and was always up for doing arts and crafts projects with them. They knew she was tough as nails and one of the most resilient individuals they would ever know. Her love was truly amazing to see. She wanted the people she loved to be better and she pushed them to do so with tough, unconditional love.
She loved cooking and always had a home-cooked meal at the ready. She was also self-taught in guitar and loved doing upholstery work, as well as sewing.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Charles Hartman; son, Steven Hartman; and three grandchildren, Andrew and Stephani Del Rio of Newberg, OR, Garrett and Whitney Hartman of Little Rock, AR, and Kyle and Nina Hartman of Bentonville, AR. She had 8 great grandchildren - Noah, Sophia, Molly and Ellis Del Rio; Reese, Hayes, Knox and Hudson Hartman. She is also survived by her sister, Gayle Howe Elmore of Salina, KS.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Letta Howe, and brother Dick Arnold.
