Mary Kathryn Blakey

She and her husband, Ed, would have been married 54 years in October, and they had two wonderful sons together. Mary K. was an assistant manager at a Hallmark store in San Diego, CA. She worked for Arvest Bank for 14 years. Mary K. worked at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville for 3 years. She was a consultant for Creative Circle where she taught women how to knit and crochet. She even had a booklet of her afghan patterns published. She especially loved making afghans for family members and new babies. Mary K. also loved gardening and tending to her plants. She enjoyed working puzzles alongside her husband, Eddie, and she also was an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Maxine Bowden.

Mary K. is survived by: her husband, Edson “Ed” Blakey; sons, Chris Blakey (Heather) of Racine, WI, and David Blakey of Rogers, AR; brothers, Edwin Bowden (Shirley) of Grandview, MO, and Richard Bowden (Teresa) of Booneville, AR; sister, Dana Michael (David) of Greenwood, AR; sisters-in-law, Karen Colwell (Steve) of Rogers, AR, and Jill Burke (Jim) of Daytona Beach, FL. Mary K. is also survived by three grandchildren: Kathryn Blakey and James Blakey, children of Chris and Heather, and Abegail Blakey, daughter of David and Megan.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at Rollins Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral service will be the following Friday, May 10th at Rollins Funeral Home at 10:30am, with burial to follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
